2nd Floor is started

1/2 the Floor/Ceiling is up . . .

I love that my cats are totally unfazed by the construction noise. They're interested in what's going on but can nap completely undisturbed.

UNBELIEVABLE!!! A couple people called the cops about the construction noise (at 3 in the afternoon?! They've been working since 7 am and NOW they're complaining? In the middle of the afternoon?!), and now we have to get a special permit from the building dept to work on Sundays! They would have had the second floor walls done too - this is RIDICULOUS!

We have walls!

Snow stopped & the sun is trying to come out on & off! (9 am)

Mudroom front door. Coat closet will be next to it to the right . . . (9:30 am)
Windows had been boarded up for demo & just came down, so now the cats can look out & watch the guys working . . .

Mudroom back door with 1/2 bath to the left. Stairs to second floor will be to right of door (laundry will go under the stairs.) (11 am)

And the last mudroom wall is up! The door beside the bathroom will be into the garage. (12:30 pm)

Front garage wall is up. The garage window will be cut out later. (2:40 pm)

Back wall of the garage is up! Only one more to go :0) (4 pm)

Last wall is up, but it's too dark for a picture, so I'll take it tomorrow (5:30 pm)

17 Weeks

17 weeks, approx 7 oz!

The Bean wasn't being too cooperative for the ultrasound tech, so we were there twice as long as they'd planned, but she finally got all the organ & bone measurements (heart, brain, head, abdomen, femur, etc, etc). However, it was difficult to get any good photos, so here's what we got:

If you look close, you can the mouth is open a bit!

More Foundation Walls . . .

And here they are! There will be a door out the side to the yard & a single garage door in the front. If you look at the bottom of the pics, you can see the footings for the support wall which will be between the mudroom & garage.

Backfill on Tuesday . . . Framing the following weekend!

The trees were so pretty this morning . . . but it's getting warmer & the snow is melting & falling off the branches now.

Demo & Construction

After 2 months of craziness with the city, we finally have our building permit and demo started this morning! I video'd the garage & porch coming down & we now have a bright yellow patch on the side of the house!

We're expecting snow tomorrow, so they won't excavate for the foundation until later in the week, and the foundation is being poured on Monday.

This is all that was left of the garage & enclosed porch!

And this is where the garage floor used to be -
it currently has an excavator parked on it!

We're Expecting!

We are currently 15 weeks and counting. I've felt fine except for 2 weeks of sciatica around weeks 10 and 11. We are SO EXCITED!

We are not going to find out if it's a boy or a girl until it's born, so you'll all have to wait along with us - no apologies! That's the way we want it.

Already received a couple of hand-me-down items and started registries at Target, Babies R Us and RGNaturalBabies.com - I figured the best way to do it was to add things as I research products, right?

Just ordered the crib yesterday - it's convertible to a toddler bed, then a full size, so it should be all we'll have to buy.

A friend is coming over every month to shoot maternity photos of my growing tummy. We started at 12 weeks, and she'll be back next week so I can see just how much I've expanded in 4 weeks.

Here's The Bean at 8 weeks

And at 12 weeks

12 week 3D photo - look closely at the face & you can see the nose & mouth!
